Captain Mark was recently featured on the ABC Good Morning America Show, Southern Living Magazine and Coastal Living Magazine. The legendary wild ponies have roamed on Assateague since the 1600's. Wild Horses of Assateague - Horses here on the island (the wild horses) are actually considered wild ponies now. These horses have lived on the island so long (since the early 1600's) that they are thought to be smaller than when they first arrived on the island (some say by a Spanish Galleon shipwreck). These horses were once larger than ponies and considered wild horses back when they first arrived . The horses are smaller now due to their main diet of salt marsh grass and thus considered wild ponies. These wild ponies live in one of the most beautiful and unspoiled parts of our country located in Virginia. Decorate your home or office with these ART PRINTS. © All images Copyright.
